III. The Curse of Trusting in Good Works

Anyone who thinks his good works will allow him to go to Heaven is not going to Heaven. Paul said, “As many as are of the works of the law are under the curse.” No one under the curse of God is going to Heaven.

This is why Jesus died on the cross, and why Paul said, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, ‘Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.’” When we have Jesus Christ for our substitute then He is our curse and we are redeemed from our sin!

One must believe this to be saved. Paul said, “By Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” It is simple. You believe in Jesus and His death on the cross to go to Heaven, or you must suffer dying in your sin.

Please trust in Jesus Christ. Do not hope that your efforts to follow God will be good enough. The Bible testifies that no man can do this. God sent His Son because of this impossibility. We do sincerely hope and pray that you will strongly consider the greatness of your sin. Only the death of God's sinless Son is enough to take that sin away.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, but are uncertain what to pray?

Below is a small portion from the Bible which tells of a man whose prayer Jesus heard, while the other man's prayer was not.

"And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, 'If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.'

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, 'Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.' And he said unto Jesus, 'Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.'

And Jesus said unto him, 'Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.'"

Luke 23:39-43

Notice that the words of your prayer are not as valuable as the condition of you heart.  If you know you are a sinner  and believe Jesus Christ can save you, then pray, asking Him to save you. He has never failed to save any sinner who trusts Him.
